BattleSport Big Box PC CD-ROM Acclaim Studio 3DO DOS Windows 95 Hover Tank

BattleSport began life as a showcase title for the 3DO console in 1995, built by Studio 3DO, and Acclaim brought it to the PC in 1997 as a DOS product that is also Windows 95 compliant. It is professional sport imagined as arena combat: two hovertanks face off across more than 500 arenas, fighting to shoot the ball into the goal while a playbook of 40 weapons turns every match into a sudden death firefight. The box calls it "America's greatest professional deathsport," with season stats, career records, real time 3D destruction and a two player split screen mode for head to head games. It is one of the strangest sports games of the nineties, equal parts soccer, tank combat and arena shooter.
