IBM DOS 5.0 Version 5.02 Big Box PC Sealed 3.5 Inch Diskettes Vintage 1992

IBM DOS 5.0 (Version 5.02)

IBM DOS 5.0 is IBM's edition of DOS for the PS/2 and PC compatible era, released in 1991 with this Version 5.02 refresh following in 1992. DOS 5 was a major step for the platform: it could load most of itself into the high memory area to free up conventional memory for applications, and it introduced the DOS Shell with a task swapper that let users move between programs, full screen online help, an improved editor and file transfer utilities for portable machines. This is the full retail package in IBM's Programming Family packaging, written for the whole IBM range of the day, from the original PC and XT up through the Personal System/2 line, and for compatibles with an 8088 or higher processor and at least 512KB of memory.
