SimCity (1989) — IBM PC Game, Complete
About the game: Will Wright's open ended city building simulation by Maxis, with the IBM PC MS-DOS release in October 1989. Players zone land, build infrastructure, set taxes and manage disasters from a blank map with no fixed win condition. It created the simulation management genre and launched the Sim franchise that led to The Sims, making it a critical and commercial landmark of the era. Trivia: the first box art featured a Godzilla like monster for the 'Monster' disaster that had to be replaced by a tornado after complaints over the unauthorized likeness.
